Art of Spices
​
The Art of Spices intends to promote Malaysia local spices and herbs. It is an institutional project with an all-in-one combination of gallery, café, cooking studio and retail. It provides a space where allows visitors to acquire information about local spices and herbs by discovering, experiencing, learning through all five of our basic senses and in the end with retail where customers can purchase the local blends or paste which delight their taste buds.

CONCEPT INSPIRATION
​
Aromatic spices and tactical blending are the keys to Malaysian cooking. From the Stone Age until today, mortar and pestle are the tools we use when come to prepare ingredients or substances in the kitchen. Blending by using mortar and pestle is an iconic process when doing cooking with spices. The concept "permeation" is inspired by the gap changes in the blending process. In the beginning, the gap between spice grains is wider, getting closer when smashing them and in the end, gaps become wider again.
